The article “Towards Evolving Actor-Network Ontologies: Enabling Reflexive Digital Twins for Cultural Heritage” advances the PANOPTES trajectory from semantic modelling and agentic reasoning toward reflexive digital twins.
The proposed direction treats heritage digital twins as systems whose semantic structures can evolve in response to actors, evidence, interpretation and policy context. This is especially relevant for cultural heritage, where meaning, significance and risk are negotiated over time rather than fixed once and for all.
